Named for the moment the accounts go quiet
Chukta means paid in full — settled, squared up. It is what you say when the count is finally straight and nobody owes anybody anything.
Chukta started on a trip to Hunza with five friends, two currencies, one person who refused to install anything, and no signal for two days. Every existing app failed at one of those. So we built the one that doesn’t.
It is made in Pakistan, it is free because splitting a bill should not cost money, and it is funded by the people who choose to support it rather than by advertising.
The mark
The equals sign is the whole idea: two sides, level. It sits inside the C so the mark reads as a word and a statement at once.
In Urdu
Chukta has a secondary Urdu wordmark used on print and packaging only — never inside the app, where one script keeps the numbers unambiguous.
Principles
The ledger, not the money
Chukta records what people owe. It never moves funds, so there are no fees and nothing to hold.
Local first, always
Your device is the source of truth. The server is a courier between devices, not a gatekeeper.
No dark patterns
No streaks, no upsell interstitials, no notifications about anything other than your own money.
Honest arithmetic
Currencies never blend, remainders are shown, and every edit is kept in history.
