Does Chukta work offline?

The Android app works offline, completely, and not as a special mode. The web app needs a connection and shows changes as they happen.

On the Android app

Adding, editing, splitting and recording payments all happen on your phone first, so they are instant whether or not you have signal.

An amber banner appears with the number of changes waiting. Your balances already include them, so the arithmetic on screen is the arithmetic you'll settle by. When the phone reconnects, the changes go and everything merges in seconds.

Needs internet: seeing other people's new expenses · invites and joining hisaab · cloud backup. Everything else is local.

On the web app

The web app shows a change made by another member, or on your phone, as it happens, with no reload.

With no connection, the web app says you're offline, keeps showing what was last loaded, and pauses saving. Nothing waits in the browser to be sent later, so add the change once you are back online, or on the Android app. Opened with no connection, the web app asks you to connect first.

If two people edit at once

Both versions are kept. Chukta shows you the two and you pick — and either way both stay in that expense's edit history, so nothing quietly disappears.
