How do currencies work?
A group declares one currency when it is created, and that is the ledger everyone settles together. You can still add an expense in another currency — a hotel paid in dollars on a rupee trip — and it is tracked alongside, never merged.
They are totalled separately
Balances, group totals, exports and statements all list each currency on its own line.
Rs 51,800 + $120.00 is a list of two amounts, not a sum.
They settle separately
The settle plan is worked out per currency. You might be owed rupees by the same person you owe dollars to, and both cards stay on the screen.
What the ~Rs figure is
Under a foreign amount you will sometimes see a faint ~Rs 6,720. It is an indicative
conversion for reading only, at one published rate. It is never stored, never totalled,
and never used in any calculation.
Changing a group's currency
Once a group has expenses, its currency is locked — changing it would silently rewrite history. Start a new group instead.
