Recording a payment

Chukta records what people owe. It does not move money, hold money, or charge a fee for any of it.

So the order is always: pay your friend the way you already pay them — cash, bank transfer, JazzCash, Easypaisa, Raast or any other way — and then record it.

Recording

Open Settle up in the hisaab, pick the card, and choose Record payment. You can record the full amount or a partial one; a partial payment leaves the rest outstanding and the plan updates.

Pick the method, the date and an optional note, and save. Everyone in the group sees the new balance, and you get a receipt you can share.

Recording for someone without the app

A no-app member cannot confirm anything, so anyone in the group can record their payments for them. The card reads "Record for" and their name — "Record for Zoya" — instead of offering a reminder.

In a fund

A fund has no Settle up. Any member records a contribution with Mark paid on the fund screen — pick the month, tap the members who paid, and record. One tap covers older months still pending; a different amount goes through the keypad. A member can mark their own payment; the fund ledger shows it as "marked own payment" so whoever holds the fund can check. Repaying someone who paid from their own pocket is Repay on the expense; paying a leaver back is Pay back on the member.
